Stop signs in traffic are placed there for our protection whether we are walking or driving. Not paying attention to these signs can result in dire consequences. So when God tells us to stop and pray and wait before we move forward He is doing this for our safety and protection -- LISTEN. Stop, pray, wait for God. This is a sure formula for success.
